CEO Paul Sutton

Paul Sutton has been with the City of Charles Sturt for over 14 years and has held the position of Chief Executive Officer since 2015.

Paul has over 25 years of local government experience. He’s worked in roles from a range of disciplines including General Management, Governance, Strategy and Policy, Organisational Development and Program Review.

His leadership has a strong focus on collaboration; working to bring people and agencies together to create a better community.

Paul is an approachable and authentic leader. He has experience in addressing complex challenges and works to create strategic outcomes. He’s committed to driving an effective and flexible public sector to deliver services and infrastructure to the community in a responsive, productive and cost-efficient way.

Paul has tertiary qualifications in engineering and management, including a Master of Business Administration (University of Adelaide).

He has been a member on various boards and is the immediate past President of Local Government Professionals SA.  As a continuing board member of Local Government Professionals SA, he also sits on the board of Central Adelaide Waste Management Authority (CAWRA).  Paul was previously Company Secretary and Executive Committee Member of the Institute Public Administration of Australia SA (IPAA SA). He was also Member of the IPAA National Council and was awarded Fellowship of the National Institute in 2016.
