Digital Notifications from DPTI

The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure (DPTI) often has to undertake essential maintenance works on metropolitan train and tram lines through the night to avoid impacting day services. To date, residents who live within close proximity of the planned night works have been provided with advance notice in writing.  However it is often difficult to notify residents of changes to the date, details and location of works due to weather conditions, logistical considerations or in response to emergency work activities.

To help overcome this issue, DPTI has introduced an electronic notification system to enable residents surrounding the rail corridors (including the tram line) to receive rail maintenance works notifications via email or SMS. This will allow residents to be notified of upcoming night works in a more timely manner, including unplanned works.

To subscribe to receive electronic rail maintenance notifications, residents should visit www.dpti.sa.gov.au/worksnotifications and enter their contact and address details.  From that time, they will receive electronic notifications of works that occur within the vicinity of the address they nominate.  Written notifications will be phased out from 1 July 2017.  All information will be kept confidential. Notifications will include the option to ‘opt out’ of receiving notifications at any time.

Residents who do not have a mobile phone or e-mail can request family members, neighbours or friends to register to receive notifications on their behalf.  The new service is not restricted to residents, as businesses or other property occupants can also register to receive such notifications.
